The basic knowledge of writing
Are you interested to do some writing, but lack of experience to start it? Well, pen and paper are not the only requirements to make writing. In this article I will give you several simple steps to help your writing endeavors.
First, you need to find the topic. You can choose various range of topic, but make sure that the topic is easy to develop and has sufficient resources. The more popular the topic is, the more you have the chance to draw public interest. Be prepared to have some competition with other authors, though. That’s why you need to give some distinction in your writing by giving new perspective in the common topic. Look and compare for the competitors, and make your own (if it possible) better.
The next challenge is your knowledge regarding the topic you will write. If you already have the comprehension and experience in the topic, then it’s a big advantage. But if you don’t, then conduct researches and find more literatures. Deeper knowledge means your capability to produce quality writing.
If you passed the two above, then now you must work on your confidence. Ensure yourself that you are good enough to make writing, and ready to face anything to finish it. This is important because writing consistency depends not only on physical matters, but also the psychological one. Keep the motivation vigorously from the beginning until the end, as writing will be very difficult if you don’t have any courage.
Now the next task is how to manage your life on writing. Be realistic by picking the writing that fit with your money and time. Although some writers don’t aim on profit, but it’s quite fair to make calculation about how well the writing will pay off or not. If you are unsure with the prospect, don’t quit your regular job too early. Look for your own spare time, whether it’s before night sleep, on weekend, or at break.
When you finally finished the writing, publicize it to the right place. If you write books or magazine article or any print materials, search agents for faster publication. Make sure that you know it’s a trusted agent at first. Accept any criticisms and rejections with open-minded behavior, and try to keep good relationship with anyone you meet.
For internet publications, you can have wide range of options including blogs, websites, ezines, etc. It might be different to promote your writing in the internet, but some are still the same such as communication with other bloggers or webmasters, writing ethics, topic popularity, etc.
