Guided tours to massimo alle terme palace museum by professional rome guide

Travel RSS Feed

Rome, the city par excellence, the Italian capital that welcomes visitors and tourists every year, with a wide range and choice of museums, monuments, art galleries and numerous opportunities for private tours of Rome, visiting places of great historical and cultural interest. Among these is the historical building of the Massimo alle Terme Palace, seat of the Roman National Museum, a palace that takes the name of the wealthy Massimo family, whose last descendant ordered it built.

The construction of the Palace (1883-1886) began with the demolition of the old Peretti palace, in the Peretti Montalto village, owned by Felice Peretti who later became Pope Sixtus V. In the eighteenth century the village was despoiled of its very rich decorations and ornaments. It finally passed from the Negroni family, successors to the Peretti, to the Massimo family, later to be partially dismantled during the construction of the Terminal Station. The collection, which can be visited during the guided tours to Massimo alle Terme Palace, provided by Professional Rome Guide, includes a section on Ancient Art, which is located on the ground floor of the Palace and features the most significant artwork of the republican and imperial era, as well as some Greek works from the 5th century B.C. The first floor, in turn, houses pictorial representations and mosaics which in part can be admired and explored on visits of the Professional Rome Guide to Ostia Antica and Villa Adriana, guided tours that bear witness to the extreme luxury of the rooms and homes of Roman families at the time. Among the most famous frescoes are the triclinium of Villa Livia and the frescoes of Villa Farnesina. This is an experience not to be missed, a comprehensive and fascinating guided tour, exploring the wonderful Ancient Rome, unknown to many.
