Stages of a relationship - 5 stages of relationships
The first of many stages of a relationship starts when you first meet. This is the time when the newness of the relationship is exciting and fun. This first stage used to be known as wooing or courting. Both these terms have more of a romantic sound to them than what we say today. Today we are either seeing someone or dating.
This is the time when you both spend as much time together as you can getting to know each other, holding hands, walking arm in arm, talking about everything. When your relationship is brand new the whole world just looks different. The sky is bluer, the plants are greener and everything is all bright and shiny. You just can't get enough of each other. This first stage can last from a couple of weeks to a couple of months.
The second of all the stages of a relationship starts when you find you are comfortable with the other person. You both have earned some trust from one another and the newness has worn off just a bit but the excitement and fun is still there. This second stage is when you both may consider becoming intimate so we can add passion to this stage.
If you do decide to become intimate, this is another aspect of your relationship to explore and find out what each other wants, likes and even expects from one another. If you have been working on communicating effectively up to this point then figuring out what your partner wants when it comes to intimacy shouldn't be a problem. You can have a lot of fun figuring these things out and maybe even experimenting with new techniques and toys. You can really get creative in the bedroom if you put your mind to it.
The third stage is when you have become so comfortable with each other and the trust and respect for one another is at a high level that you decide to move in together. This will be quite the transition for both of you and the lines of communication need to stay wide open so there are no misunderstandings.
The smart thing to do is to set things straight right from the get go. Sit down and list expectations and what role you will each play and even dictate what chores each other will be responsible for. Decrease the chanced for misunderstandings to creep in and undermine your relationship.
The fourth stage is getting married and planning your life and future together. This stage takes some careful planning, from the wedding to everything else down the road, communication is key. There are many decisions to be made like, children for example, you have to decide if you both want them and how many you want. Are you going to buy a house or continue to pay rent?
If you have been living together for some time then you already have a lot of the decisions that need to be made already worked out to everyone's satisfaction. Hopefully you will make your relationship work and can stay away from the last of all the stages of a relationship that too many people get to these days. Divorce.
