Perfect relationships - successful relationships are possible
Perfect relationships are not just for fairy tales. You can have one if you are willing to put in the work. Yes, relationships take some work to be successful. The attraction you feel toward one another in the beginning can be a great start but a relationship cannot be sustained on just those initial feelings.
you have to remember that the word 'perfect' can be misleading. There is no such thing as perfect. None of us are perfect and no relationship is perfect. What a relationship can be is perfect for you. You find someone who you just click with and are compatible with, and that will be perfect for the two of you.
You can do yourself an enormous favor by picking your partner very carefully. This may sound simple and obvious, but the truth of the matter is that people very often choose to ignore the warning signs early on in a relationship... which will only lead to problems later on.
My sister did just that. She met a guy who was pretty clearly a loser. Everyone saw it, she even saw it, she just refused to end the relationship. Even though she didn't want to admit it, she didn't want to be alone so she just 'grabbed' on to the only thing she thought she had.
Now, it's a year later and while he doesn't physically abuse her, some of the stories she tells me and my other sister would be enough to curl your hair. She keeps making excuses that he's trying to change, or she'll leave him if he doesn't change in the next 6 months,etc. She'll never leave him, if it ends he'll be the one to leave.
The moral of the story is this: while no one is perfect and you have to worry that you don't have unrealistic expectations when you meet someone, it's also important to not ignore the warning signs in the beginning. Before you start dating someone just determine what your line in the sand will be. What are the attributes that you simply know you won't be able to live with? Recognize those and if those things show up early in a new relationship end it.
When you do find someone great just remember that perfect relationships take nurturing and patience. Communication is very important and so is the ability to compromise in difficult situations. Let's face facts, even in the best relationships you and your partner aren't going to agree on everything. It's easy to get along well when you are both on the same page, but it's much more challenging to find a calm, respectful way to work through the issues you don't agree on.
Finding a great relationship really isn't impossible, not in the least. It's just about knowing who you really are, knowing what you really want, and only staying in relationships with people who are the same page as you. Then you and your partner can have your version of perfect relationships.
