Blue for boys and pink for girls is not how a child’s room should look like. You can experiment with a lot of things and create a special room for your little one
Concerned about ensuring perfect room environment for your child to grow up in best possible manner? Like grownups, kids too require bit of space for themselves, to play, to dream, to think and to grow. Help your child make his room into a creative, energetic space. There are various ideas which one can think of while decorating kid’s room. The most important aspect which should be kept in mind while while decorating kid’s room that the child should be comfortable with prepared ambience. The room should be full of toys and colorful items as this will also give lot of space to the child. The room should be able to leave a lasting impression during the growing years of a child.
A child’s room need not only have teddy bears and dolls – it can be remarkably done in a different manner and yet catch the imagination of the child. This is an important aspect in the grooming of a child and should be given considerable attention as lot of detailing may be required.
There are various themes which can be considered for boys’ rooms. The room should leave a lot of scope for one’s imagination to fly high and there should be lot of usage of bright colours and the décor should be thematic as this will create an urge inside the child to think and explore.
The child have should have enough room to grow up as there could be nothing more exciting for child to grow up in their own environment. The environment should be congenial and conducive to the child’s growth. This atmosphere can be created by usage of alphabets, action figures, interesting animal pictures, solar system graph, flowers and toys, easily available in the market. The child should also be encouraged to decorate his room and instead of giving the wallpaper a coat of paint, it is advisable to use wallpaper in the room as the child can indulge in free use of colour and once the wall is full one may again change the wall paper as this not only enhance the child’s creativity and free flow but will also be cost-effective as paint would be more expensive as well. However, cleanliness should be specially taken care of as this will keep him free of clutter. Boxes and shelves may be used in the room for storage purpose. They can be marked in attractive colours as this will encourage the child to start identifying things. Keep as many toys as possible.
The boy’s room should contain themes which usually appeal to boys such as space, automobiles, favourite action heroes such as Spiderman. Little boys who may be big fans of Spiderman or Batman, would love their curtains lines, bed sheets featuring Spiderman or batmans, etc.
The room colour should be appealing and should be kept as attractive as possible. The wall paper may also feature one or two pictures of his favourite action hero. Aspiring astronauts may love to live and sleep in rooms resembling outer space by painting the walls in medium to dark blue shades. Star-shades ceiling lights may also be used for adding enhanced appeal. The room should leave scope for exploration. This can be done by keeping as many different types of toys, puzzles as possible. This will also induce the child to experimentation at an early age.
Most of love automobiles and have craving for cars. Besides, the more expensive options of bed shaped like big cars, one can create a moving scene painting wall murals that seems like fields or scenery rushing off as one is driving during sunsets. Traffic signposts are often easiest to paint along with long winding roads. Small cheap plastic toy cars can be attached to the walls, dressers using wall putty to make the room look like a busy street.
On the contrary the room for little girls should have pretty colours! For a room that she’ll cherish, select fabrics with flowers, cute animals, or butterflies on walls as a colourful accent, using paint colours matched to your fabric or wallpaper choices. Don’t forget to add soft, airy curtains. Decorating rooms for little girls is quite a fun-filled activity. It is a nest for daydreaming, spinning tales of wonder, study, playing with dolls sleeping and even doing a little makeup and spend time gazing at the mirror.
Girls, whether small, teenaged or those turning into young women, love to have a say in the decoration of their room. So, ask your girl to make a list of her favourite toys or characters that she would like to incorporate. Use her favourite colours to paint the walls of the room. Girls often love to recycle the products and use them into new innovate ways. Mirror attached to the dresser can be put directly on the wall. Use bold back-ground with bulletin boards, which may be used to paste magazine cut-outs, hand-made greeting cards or their own painting and drawings.
Don’t forget to provide plenty of storage area in the dressing table and a full-length mirror to organize cosmetics, jewellery pieces, hairpins, combs and other accessories.
