Summers and water make the most irresistible combination ever. To beat the heat people readily jump into swimming pools to cool themselves off while there are also people who enjoy swimming in winters, with warm water temperatures obviously.
It is generally thought that swimming pools are only used for swimming and that’s about all there is to them. But, that’s not it. There are so many interesting pool games one can play in a swimming pool. First is the Chicken fight, also referred to as Cherry drop. It is an informal game played by several people at a time. There are two teams with equal number of people in it. Small attack ships are made by one person who has to swim and another person who is the attacker either sitting on the shoulders or piggy back riding the swimmer. The aim of the game is to knock down the attackers of the opposing team. Whoever knocks down the other team first or within the time wins. The game is definitely a lot of fun, but is sometimes banned in swimming pools due to the safety measures that have to be maintained when in water.
Dibble Dabble is a swimming pool game that is famously played all over Indiana, New Jersey, New York, Kansas, California, Illinois, Tennessee, Florida, Massachusetts, Utah, Texas, and Wisconsin. In this game one of the player places a wooden stick or any other float-able object on the floor of the pool while the others stand on the perimeter of the swimming pool in watch of the object. As soon as someone spots the object, he shouts Dibble Dabble and jumps in to catch it. If the object is caught the first time, the person gets to place it in the next term otherwise the same procedure repeats until someone finally catches the stick.
Fish out of Water is another extremely popular swimming pool game in the United States. To play this game, there has to a searcher while the rest are all fishes. The searcher has to dive inside the pool with eyes closed and open them once inside the water. He then has to look for people all round. If he feels that someone is out of the pool, he takes the name of that person and shouts "Fish out of water!". If he is correct, the person caught then becomes the new searcher for the game.
Gator is another swimming pool game, popular in some parts of the Southern U.S. To play this game, one person becomes the gator and stands at one end of the swimming pool. All the rest of the players stand on the opposite side with the wall. The gator then shouts out “gator”. At this moment the other players start swimming. They have to swim and reach the other end of the swimming pool without being caught by the gator. Anyone who gets tagged, stops swimming and stands at the gator side of the pool. Once all the people are caught or have reached safely, the next round begins in which the ones caught all become the gator now.
