Race car beds - safe and secure
I doubt there is a parent around who isn't familiar with the Disney character Lightning McQueen the popular car from the film 'Cars'. Many a toddler would love to have their very own race car beds. Fortunately, you do not have to rush out to the garage and make one. You can just go out and buy one, so much easier!
These beds can actually make it easier to get your little racer to leave the comfort and security of their crib and get into a big boy or girl bed. Often a child has fears of falling out of bed when they go into a bigger bed. It can also be uncomfortable to leave the 'baby' stage behind.
Providing your child with a cool bed that reminds them of their favorite movie can definitely help ease this transition (which means both you and your child might get more sleep!).
There are many styles and sizes of race car beds available beyond just the red plastic bed you've probably seen in catalogs. There are many car beds that come in 'girl colors' too. Or you can simply go with the old 'standby' Nascar. It really comes down to what your little race car driver would prefer, and what mom and dad can afford.
If you are worried about your little one being the thing that goes bump in the night, you can also get rails for many styles of race car beds. That way they'll stay safe and you can get some sleep.
With luck, your child will love their bed so much that they will not fight you when it's time to go to bed. They may even enjoy nap time or bed time. That one thing alone could make it worth the price of the bed!
To get the best selection you will probably want to head online if for no other reason than to compare features and prices and have as many choices as possible. If you are not comfortable with buying online you can always get the model number and talk to your local furniture store about ordering one for you, if they don't have one in stock.
Of course, when it comes to anything regarding your child, safety is issue number ONE. Make sure that it is well built from non toxic materials and paint. Make sure the edges are rounded and not rough or sharp. Also make sure that any rails are securely attached and do not create a strangling hazard.
If possible (if you have the room, the budget and if you can find one) you should consider a full size twin bed. If you can do that you can avoid having to buy another bed when your toddler becomes a 'tween' or worse, a teenager! Instead of buying multiple beds you may get by with only two: a crib and a twin size toddler bed. It's always nice to be able to save a little money, isn't it?
If you get your child race car beds you can be their hero. Actually you may well be your own hero too, if your child stops fighting you at bed time and will stay in bed all night long.
