The cost of a whole house filtration system will vary somewhat depending on where you buy them and what type you get, but overall the cost shouldn't be a problem for a lot of homeowners.

Again, with this type of filter you still need to make sure you change the filter when it gets dirty and you are still only treating the water you are drinking, and not the whole house.
If you can afford it, a whole house water filtration chlorine system is obviously the best way to go. You can have contaminant free water throughout your home so that every time you and your family take a bath, brush their teeth, get something to drink or put on some clean clothes you will know that the water is clean and safe.
