Digital book reader-e readers advantages
Computers are now so much a part of our daily lives that it's nearly impossible to imagine a world without them. Solid evidence of this can be seen in the growing popularity of reading books in digital format. Digital books, also known as e-books, are either viewed on a computer or a digital book reader. E-books have several advantages over their paper counterparts. In this article we will take a look at some of those advantages and talk about e-readers as well.
If you took a look at readers in the past, then you should know that the technology has come a long way in recent years. Whereas the old digital book reader was bulky, short battery life and not a lot of memory; new models have them beat in those areas and many more.
Of course all of this may sound really cool, but none of it matters if you can't really read the words. The screen technology of the past had a lot to be desired. Again, things have come a long way since then. Now the screens don't have any glare, even when used outside on a sunny day. This alone helps readability immensely. But a new digital book reader will also allow you to set contrast levels and change the size of the font to make it even easier for you to read. A lot of this is achieved through what's known as EInk (short for Electronic Ink).
One of the best things about e-readers are how many titles you can fit onto the unit. Imagine if you were going on vacation and wanted to take all of your favorite books along. How many would you want to take? 1? 5? 10? 25? Don't laugh! A lot of people would like to take that many along, but the size and weight of a physical book makes this an inconvenient proposition. Even 5 books start to make packing for your trip more challenging than it needs to be. With an e-reader you can store 1,000s of books for easy reading any time you want.
The first digital book readers couldn't hold all that many titles and battery life was an issue as well. And that's not to mention that you had to download the e-book to your computer first and then to your reader. Battery life has now been greatly improved, making e-readers one of the hot new gadgets on the market.
'Gadget' may not really be a fair term though, 'instant portable library' is more accurate. Yes, you can store a ton of books on it, but it gets better. There are now millions of titles available in digital format, with more being released every day. The cool part is that--with devices like the Amazon Kindle--you don't even need an internet connection at all to download your books.
All of this comes in a digital book reader that is slimmer and more lightweight than just about any physical book. While there will probably always be "real" books, the virtual kind is giving them a run for the money.
