Samsung galaxy s - android gingerbread update stopped by vodafone
While hunting through
Smartphone reviews I came across the Samsung Galaxy S news. If you are on Vodafone and use a Samsung Galaxy S then this is a useful update. Vodafone has stated that Google has the Gingerbread update for the Samsung Galaxy S. Vodafone posts on its website that it is unaware how long it will take for Google to fix it. This is a big blow to Vodafone and the Galaxy S owners through Europe and UK.
There were update issues in the
Windows Phone 7 smartphone and this time Google is hampering Samsung’s update on the Samsung Android handset. The Galaxy S smartphone was set to receive Gingerbread update. But, the Gingerbread has now been halted, on account of an unknown issue that has been noted after its release. Vodafone has pointed at google for this mishap and has held it responsible for temporarily suspending the Android 2.3 delivery over Kies. Though it is known that the problem is not universal as Vodafone’s Galaxy S devices seem to be unaffected.
Some days back it was publicized that owners of the Samsung Galaxy S on Vodafone, could start to download
Android update for the handset.
Vodafone has posted on its forum that “Due to issue with the Gingerbread update for the Samsung Galaxy S, the rolling out has been temporarily suspended by Google”
Vodafone has confirmed that there is no problem with their version of the Galaxy S. But they were working with Samsung to correct the problem. There are no details available about the exact problem. But, it is surely annoying to the owners who wish to down load the new system on their handsets.
Some of the developers over at Galaxy S state that the update was pulled back because the Gingerbread update that was released by Vodafone U.K. was not the final build. The update was not supposed to be released by Vodafone U.K. Inspite of this, the carrier still released the update. Let us hope that Vodafone U.K. will straighten out things and release the final build of the Gingerbread update for the Galaxy S handsets. Vodafone U.K. seems to have released the update without intimating Samsung.
